Arrested Now What Do I Do?

There may come a time when you find yourself under arrest for a crime. Now then, there are things that have to happen when you are going through this.

You must remember that you have rights and when you are under arrest you must make sure that you are following this process then you are going to deal with things in the right way. However, the fear that you have may over take the position of knowing your rights.

Well that is what the police are counting on and you may do something to harm your defense if you are not careful. Schooling yourself in this area is very important and you have to be sure that you are getting things in the right way.

Over all there is the process that will help make the right changes because of the fact that you are going to get things that are working out well. Through it all you have to be sure of what you are getting and why it is happening.

The first order of business is to know what rights you have. The first is the right to remain silent. This means that you do not have to speak to the police when they have arrested you.

You have the right to make sure that you are not saying anything that could possibly incriminate yourself on the crime that you are being charged with. The police are required to tell you that anything you say can and will be used against in a court of law.

This means that you have the right to not say anything and you cannot be forced to speak. So it is going to be in your best interest if you remain silent. Then you have the right to have a lawyer present during any and all questioning that takes place.

So you do not have to answer any questions because you have to have the attorney present with you. So it is best to ask for an attorney during this process. Once you ask for a lawyer all the questions must stop and you are to be left alone.

Finally you have the right to an attorney even if you cannot afford one. The court is required by law to provide you with legal counsel if you cannot afford the services. This means that you will have an attorney with you through the court process to protect your rights and help in your defense.

This is something that you should know from the very beginning. The one thing that most of the lawyers will tell you is that you should never give a statement to the police without first talking to a lawyer.

This means that you are going to have to deal with the arrest and wait to speak to an attorney before you do anything. This may seem like you are going to be getting a hard time but that is not the case.

The police are not allowed to bribe you or they are not allowed to make threats if you have invoked your rights. Do not fall for anything that will be considered to be bad for your defense all the way around.
